Basketball: Early playoff matchups set

The Drew School boys basketball team facing off against Athenian School in the Rincon Valley Christian Tourney on Dec. 28. Both Drew basketball teams will be playing against University on Tuesday.

The playoff matchups have been set in the Bay Counties West, Private School, West Bay and West Catholic basketball leagues, which all start on Tuesday.

The Bay Counties Central and Private School girls both begin Thursday, but the Central has yet to set its matchups. Also, Mercy has a first round bye in the West Bay playoffs and won’t play until Thursday.

The AAA playoffs will begin on Feb. 26

Here is what we have as of this moment for the San Francisco schools involved:

Tuesday

Bay Counties League West – Boys – First Round
#6 Drew (0-10) at #3 University (7-3), 7 p.m
#5 Urban (2-8) at #4 Lick-Wilmerding (6-4), 6:30 p.m.

#1 Stuart Hall (8-2) and #2 Marin Academy (7-3) have first-round byes and will face the first round winners in the semifinals on Thursday at the City College of San Francisco.

Bay Counties League – Girls – First Round
#6 Drew (0-10) at #3 University (6-4), 5:30 p.m.
#5 Marin Academy (3-7) vs #4 Urban (4-6), 4:30 p.m. @ Kezar Pavilion

#1 Convent Sacred Heart (10-0) and #2 Lick-Wilmerding (7-3) have first-round byes and will face the first round winners in the semifinals on Thursday at the City College of San Francisco.

West Catholic Athletic League – Boys – First Round
#7 St. Ignatius at #2 Serra (San Mateo, 7 p.m.
#6 Riordan at #3 Bellarmine (San Jose), 7 p.m.
#5 Sacred Heart Cathedral at #4 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose), 7 p.m.

West Catholic Athletic League – Girls – First Round
#6 Notre Dame (Belmont) at #3 St. Ignatius, 7 p.m.
#5 Sacred Heart Cathedral at #4 Presentation (San Jose), 7 p.m.

Private School Athletic League – Boys – First Round
All games at Alma Heights Academy in Pacifica
North #2 Jewish Community vs. South #3 St. Lawrence (Santa Clara), 4:30 p.m.
South #2 Mountain View Academy (Mountain View) vs. North #3 San Francisco Christian, 6 p.m.
