Wrestling: Liao and Lam lead Washington to third consecutive CIF-SF championship

Washington High School clinched its third consecutive CIF-San Francisco Section wrestling championship at San Francisco School of the Arts on Sunday, behind third consecutive individual titles from seniors Jason Liao and Andy Lam.

Liao won at the 160-pound weight class on Saturday, which followed his championships in the 135- and 152-pound weight classes in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

Lam won the 125-pound weight class on Saturday, which also followed his championships in the 103- and 113-pound weight classes in 2008 and 2009.

Washington’s Alvin Tran and Galen Yun, as well as Lincoln’s Calvin Graber and Lowell’s Sam Berry, all claimed their second consecutive titles.

All of the individual champions qualify for the CIF State Wrestling Championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield on Friday and Saturday.

130 – Jimmy Zhen, senior, Galileo

145 – Sean Kately, junior, Balboa
152 – Daniel Sorkin, senior, Lowell
160 – Jason Liao, senior, Washington
171 – Aris Chalini, senior, Lowell
189 – Sam Berry, senior, Lowell
215 – Ben Probst, sophomore, Washington
285 – Calvin Graber, senior, Lincoln
