Football: Lincoln’s fresh faces look to get back on the championship track

Even with Galileo’s impressive 35-0 win over Lincoln in the Turkey Bowl last year, don’t be fooled, over the past five years, the Mustangs have undoubtedly been the football powerhouse in the AAA.

Lincoln was going for an unprecedented fifth consecutive AAA championship on Thanksgiving last season and now is looking to start another string of championships.

Although the Mustangs have had a run of recent success, the 2010 campaign may be one of their most trying.


Football: Sacred Heart Cathedral looking to return to glory

Two years ago Sacred Heart Cathedral was a solid team, going 8-5 and winning the CIF-Central Coast Section Small School Division championship. Last year they took a major dip in the standings and finished 2-8 which was not good enough for a playoff spot.

This year, the Fightin’ Irish, led by veteran coach John Lee, will look to make their way back to the playoffs.


Football: New coach, new scheme, new Mission

After a tough year, most football teams pledge to “rebuild.” But without finishing their 2009 season, rebuilding isn’t on Mission High School’s mind. Instead, first-year head coach Joe Albano plans to build his own program by instituting new schemes and keeping the most athletic players on the field at all times.
