Football: Stuart Hall’s first season will be about more than just football

A few months ago, Stuart Hall High School wasn’t too worried about athletics.

The institution was more concerned about just keeping it’s doors open.

Struggling with debt and reduced enrollment, the 10-year-old school considered closing to hedge those issues, but the Stuart Hall community rallied to raise more than $3 million over the summer to keep the school alive.

That will be the same community that will be rooting on the Knights in their inaugural 8-man football season in 2010.



Football: Finishing better tops St. Ignatius’ priorities

St. Ignatius could practically taste victory.

Out of the Wildcats’ 10 regular season games in 2009, six were decided by 10 or fewer points. Out of those six games, five were losses.

“Our focus this year has to be in the fourth quarter,” said senior running back Zach Schuller. “We’re going to push as a team at the end of games and really finish as a team. Last year there wasn’t as much energy.”
