SI #3 seed one and done in 1st round WCAL
Playoff I think goodbye for Debenedetti!

  4. WCAL Alum says:

In all honesty, even Drucker and Reardon would have had a tough time with this group. One pure shooter, one kid with modest potential and the rest role players. Second time around league, they were exposed.

However, outside of WCAL, they will make a run at CCS.

  5. IC Stars says:

Great win for the Irish, pummeling Riordan 74-50. It was 33-28 at the half and Coach Barbour must have used the right words at halftime for a change when SHC responded with a 29-9 romp in the third quarter to take a 62-37 lead into the 4th. SHC lead by as many as 27 and coasted the rest of the way.

It was good to see the students get into this game after some Riordan fans started cheering. They got quiet later for obvious reasons. I’ve seen too many bad scores like this over the seasons myself.

Irish will play Bellarmine Friday at SHC at 7pm.

  6. City High says:

I think SHC’s student fan base was a little lax tonight. Riordan’s fans were making noise when they were down 20.

  7. Ari Gold says:

I never liked the idea if you win the regular season title but not the league playoff championship and its considered a shared title. I guess thats the way things have to go. Im always more impressed with the outright title. Mitty shouldnt have any problems winning the outright title this year but if they must share with someone Im hoping SH can pull it out.

Top 3 seeds for DIvIII CCS already set with the pathetic SI team losing. #1 SH, #2 Burlingame, #3 SI. SI is going to really have to a tougher road to win CCS.

BUT… Lippi would win the WCAL tourney with this group. No Joke. Not so sure about an SI run at CCS though. Debenedetti has been bounced quick and early from WCAL and CCS tournaments his first two years as coach. They have yet to win a single big playoff game under him.

  9. Basketball Fan says:

Yes, I find the boys at Riordan cheering their team on whether they are winning or losing for the most part (which is refreshing) and that’s because of the true brotherhood they all share at that school. Riordan will be back in a few years.

My cheering will turn to SHC as the other SF school I would like to see win WCAL. I watched Fox play at ST Thomas More and now at SHC – I wish him well. But I think Mitty will take the title.
