Every week, members of the staff, other local media members and one of our commenters will make predictions on the weekend’s games featuring our local San Francisco teams. Please feel free to make your own picks in the comment section and discuss the week’s games.

The second year of our Pick ’em contest has officially kicked off — and we’ve added a new feature.

Along with the same “experts” from local media we had last year, YOU can now participate and try to bring down our defending champion, writer Bonta Hill.

Each week, we will select one of our regular commenters to make picks on the slate of games and it will all go into the total record of commenters’ picks. Our first commenter participant is IC Stars. If you would like to participate, please send editor Jeremy Balan an e-mail at to make your case.

Without further delay, here are the picks.

    • Ugly game in the Fog Bowl. Irish tried their best to give this game away after letting a 19-0 lead get away.

I disagree, that was one hell of a game.

        • Actually, beating Serra and Tom Brady 20-13 in 1994 was a hell of a game. So was upsetting San Ramon Valley that year.

          • Was at that game and saw the lead-footed Brady make a last dive effort to trip up Jamar Sheppard on that 90+yd interception return. Most enjoyable SH win Ive ever seen.

            • And don’t forget Jamar knocking down that 4th quarter pass at the end of the game. He nearly won that game single-handed.

  4. Irish squeaked one out over terra nova. It wasn’t pretty but it’s a win!

  5. How did Riordan do?

Very entertaining game at Kezar tonight. I was impressed with Harrington. The Bells almost broke the streak. WCAL will be tough again as always! Riordan score looks like they were in it.
