Boys Soccer: Drew 2, University 1
It’s turning into the wild wild Bay Counties League West.
Less than a week after stunning perennial power Marin Academy, University (8-3-3, 4-1-2) was handed it’s first league loss by Drew (2-2-1 in BCL West) on Tuesday at Kimbell Playground.
The Red Devils struck first in the fifth minute, but Drew evened the score just before the half on a goal from Brandon Naraghi, assisted by Julian Faro-White.
Brice Lockard put the Dragons ahead in the 55th minute, set up on a free kick from Marcus Mason, and goalkeeper Justine Li kept University off the board for the rest of the game with seven saves.
Boys Soccer: Lowell 5, Galileo 0
The Cardinals (10-0) extended their Academic Athletic Association win streak to 28 behind three goals from senior forward Cameron BaSaing.
Lowell also got goals from seniors Max Pollard and Dillon Demo, and did not allow the Lions (2-7-1) to take shot on net in the game.
Girls Volleyball: Drew 3, Convent 1
The Dragons (9-2, 1-2) got their first BCL West win by rallying back from a Game 1 loss to beat the Cubs (5-2, 2-2) 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22.
Drew senior outside hitter Ava Decker and junior middle blocker Kenna Kryger had 12 kills apiece, and junior Iris Qasevakatini added 11. The balanced attack was all orchestrated by senior setter Keely Skehan, who doled out 43 assists.
Boys Soccer: Jordan 2, O’Connell 0
The Jaguars (3-7) got goals from Johnathon Mora and Aldiar Chavez, while Brian Nuila had five saves to keep the Boilermakers (3-7) scoreless.
Girls Volleyball: University 3, Lick-Wilmerding 0
The Tigers (4-4, 1-2) were swept 25-15, 25-18, 25-9 by the first-place Red Devils (9-3, 4-0), but got solid performances from junior middle blocker Annie Wilson (eight kills) and senior libero Jessica Erlich (14 digs).
Girls Tennis: University 5, San Domenico 0
The Red Devils (4-0 in BCL West) won every match, but did so dominantly the singles slate, only surrendering three sets in match wins from Katrina Allick, Maddie Brown and Lydia Lee.
Molly Feldstein and Jenny Bloomquist took the first doubles match 6-0, 6-0, but the closest match of the day was Berit Danis and Olga Baranoff’s 6-4, 7-5 win over San Domenico’s Ana Guiterrez and Isabel del Gueto.
Girls Volleyball: Jewish Community 3, Downtown College Prep 0
The Wolves (9-3, 7-0) did most of their damage in their 25-5, 25-14, 25-11 win in the service game, with sophomores Elana Fogel and Jessica Berman recording 15 and 11 aces, respectively.
