Prep Wrapup: Tocchini scores seven in SI girls water polo’s WCAL playoff win

Girls Water Polo: St. Ignatius 12, Presentation 4

The Wildcats (14-10) left an early impression in the West Catholic Athletic League playoffs with a dominating 12-4 win behind seven goals from junior Carla Tocchini.

Tocchini scored four goals in the first half to help St. Ignatius build a 7-1 lead at the break. The Wildcats also got single goals from Danielle Butler, Jackie Hazelwood, Susan Providenza, Olivia Sanders and Margaret Summa.

Up next for St. Ignatius is top-seeded Sacred Heart Prep in the semifinals today.

Boys Soccer: Lowell 3, SFI 0

The Cardinals (17-0) not only extended their Academic Athletic Association winning streak to 35, but knocked the Huskies (10-5-3) out of playoff contention.

Lowell broke a 0-0 halftime tie with two goals from senior Cameron BaSaing and another from fellow senior Max Pollard.

  1. Girls basketball game between Lowell and Sacred Heart. Great game! Both teams playing their first pre-season game played with intensity and great defense. Lowell 40 Sacred Heart 36. Leading scorer for Lowell was soph guard Kelly wong with 16 points.
