Boys Soccer: Lowell 6, Balboa 1

The Cardinals (18-0) not only wrapped up their second-consecutive undefeated Academic Athletic Association season with their 36th straight league win, but also officially knocked the Buccaneers (11-6-1) out of the postseason.

Lowell got two goals apiece from Cameron BaSaing and Jesus Sanchez, while Will Slotterback and Zach Weisenburger added solo goals in the win on Thursday.

Boys Soccer: ISA 4, Marshall 3

Success is not always determined by a championship or even a postseason berth.

For International Studies Academy (8-9-1), a win over Marshall (2-13-2) on Thursday ended the Cobras’ most successful season in school history, in which they doubled their previous season-high win total.

The win also capped a standout season for Jonathan Guerra, who scored all four goals for the Cobras in the win. Marshall countered with goals from David Cartagena, Gerson Henriquez and Omar Valdovinos, but could not equalize late.
