Girls Basketball: Lincoln 48, Lick-Wilmerding 46 (OT)
Lincoln senior forward Maripousa Silifaiva hit a shot to put the Mustangs ahead in regulation, but Lick responded and sent the game to overtime.
In the extra period, Silifaiva made sure the Tigers didn’t have another chance.
After two missed Lick free throws Silifaiva secured a rebound, pushed the ball upcourt and hit a driving bank shot with no time remaining to give the Mustangs (1-0) their first win of the season.
Silifaiva also hit a go-ahead three-pointer to put Lincoln ahead 42-40 in the final minute of regulation, but Lick’s Katie Waters hit two free throws with 6 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
Silifaiva finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but Lincoln’s leading scorer was senior center Jessica Garrett, who finished with a team-high 15. Waters was the only Lick (1-1) player to score in double figures, with a game-high 22 points.
