Girls soccer final : SHCP wins 1-0 over Notre Dame (San Jose)

  2. Charlotte says:

The score of the SHCP game was 2-0 over Notre Dame (San Jose)

  3. Irishi Italian says:

SHCP men beat Sequoia on a late goal by Johnny Rojas 1-0. Sequoia previously beat SI 3-1.

  4. Feel The Pain says:

Lincoln Mustangs fall to Arcata 62-53.

  5. soccerfan says:

St. Ignatius wins 1-0 over Aragon

  6. Ari Gold says:

I think I know who the anonymous matching donor was. It definately was SI. Look at the front page of SanFranPreps? BTW, SH is playing in the Cactus Jam Final but Jeremy must have missed that one. Did SI include hush money?

    • jbalan says:

According to the bracket the Cactus Jam final is on Friday.

      • Irishi Italian says:

Yes. The brackets say the game is Friday. SHCP will face an El Toro team from Lake Forest, Ca with a 13 and 2 record. IN the first ESPN Gatorade poll, SHCP is ranked 10th in the Stat and is the fourth highest NorCal team behind Mitty, Salesian and De La Salle. SI is getting the love this week because of their tournament and both men and woman making finals? SHCP teams are out of state. I have no worries that JB will be giving some love to the Irish when they get back in town.

    • SF FAN says:

@ ARI GOLD”your a hater” Quit hating SI was the best thing going this week in San Francisco that’s why they holding the front page of sanfran down this week. Who else is making noise? beside Riordan with a 2-1 record this week. We all know sanfran don’t got the funds to travel and cover stories out of state or they probably would have cover SHC and had lots of photos. On another note who cares if SI was the matching donor we still have sanfranpreps that’s business.

CO-SIGN. The people at SFP and the student-athletes work hard enough to deserve a decent amount of respect and shouldn’t be slandered by someone who wants to hide behind a computer screen

    • AFitzsimon says:

It would be great if Jeremy could fly me out to Arizona to cover that wouldn’t it? Come on man the biggest coed basketball tournament of the year was on with both host schools in the championships. Five teams from our top ten in were in the tournament.

  7. mercymercyme says:

Mercy beat Hillsdale 52 to 41. The streak is still alive!

  8. Feel The Pain says:

Congrats to both Mercy and SI. I would like to see them play each other, but for now, Mercy will play Pinewood at home in a few weeks. I know teams matchup differently with other teams, but maybe we can get a sense of where an SI/Mercy game would stand based on the Pinewood score in a few weeks. Again, congrats to both, represent the CITY!

    • City Fan says:

I have seen Mercy play a few times and SI as well and Mercy is not in SI’s league not even close! Mercy hasn’t played not 1 top team and they just barely beat Hillsdale? Mercy has some nice post players but don’t think they could match up with SI, too much depth and talent.

  9. JJ says:

After watching the final game vs Jesuit and SI, I can safely say that SHC has the better , more balanced team. If you contain Domingo, SHC can beat SI by double digits.

  10. Ari Gold says:

@JJ so what did you see from Domingo? The same guy who’s favorite shot is the fall-away jumper over a guy only 6’1? The same guy who doesn’t drive to the basket and use his long arms and height to make simpler 3 ft bunnies?

    • JJ says:

Domingo actually shot an airball from the free throw line. It was a little embarassing. Parker Uu from Jesuit totally out-played him, but Domingo receives more hype from college scouts and the “media”.

  11. Feel The Pain says:

Let the league games begin. Now that the tournament games are wrapping up, it’s safe to say that SH is the undisputed #1 team in the City. I’ll be at the SI/Riordan game coming up on Tuesday and it should be rockin. Snack bar, Crusader band, and a battle for the #2 ranking. SI will be ready to bounce back from today’s defeat and the Crusaders will be pumped up to be playing in front of the home crowd in the league opener.

On Wednesday on the AAA side, Balboa will bring their 11-3 record to Lincoln (5-8 before tommorrow’s game with Terra Linda) in a battle of the current #4 and #5 teams in the City. I don’t see the 3 WCAL city schools budging from their top 3 spots all season, especially playing in the WCAL. In any event, good luck to all the schools, the road to State starts now!

Burton Boys Beat Marina 59-56 in the North Salinas Steinbeck Classic

  14. Charlotte says:

    No problem sf patriot!

Go Irish!!! Glad the boys won! Go Johnny!!!

*City match up between SH and SI in men & women’s soccer next week!! Varsity teams @ SI @ 1 & 3 pm!!

  15. Charlotte says:

*putting the day would help – TUESDAY Jan 3!!! =]

    • ARHS Stats says:

Sorry, but on Tuesday, January 3rd

Saint Ignatius plays at Archbishop Riordan in boys basketball.

The St. Ignatius B’s lost in double overtime to St. Francis in the ‘B’ team tournament championship game.

Riordan and SI did not play in the tournament on either level. SI B’s did beat SHC in the Semi Finals.

      • IC Stars says:

        She’s referring to soccer.

        • ARHS Stats says:

          I know.

But the bigger game is the basketball game between Riordan and SI on Tuesday.

The ‘B’ team game is at 3 PM, followed by the ‘A’ team game, JV game, and finally the Varsity Game.

          • IC Stars says:

Irish play Serra at SHC on Jan. 3. I’ll expect a nice, big , quiet crowd… again. Sometimes I think they imported Dodger fans up here.

            • ARHS Stats says:

That is the bigger game for Sacred Heart Cathedral on the 3rd.

Tell us if SHC fills the Gym with their fans on the 3rd.

I think all three city schools will still be on Winter Break on the 3rd, so there will be no classes for the players on Tuesday.

It will be interesting to find out which schools come out to support their basketball teams on Tuesday.

  16. WCAL Alum says:

I will suspect Serra will have a bigger cheering section than SHC. At least it will be more organized. Both should be competitive games, but due to the concession stand at Riordan, I am leaning on going there.

  17. Mercy Alum says:

In a few weeks Mercy will play Pinewood at home, At this point we will put this to rest Mercy is the real deal! Happy New Year WCAL FANS
