Boys Basketball: Urban 57, Lick-Wilmerding 54

The pieces may finally be coming together for the Blues (7-7, 1-1), who trailed by at least eight points after the each of the first three quarters, but surged in the fourth to get past the Tigers (9-7, 0-2).

Junior guard Nate Cohen had a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Matt Monges and senior forward Julian Matulich added 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Boys Basketball: Mitty 58, Riordan 52

With standout Mitty forward Aaron Gordon dressed, but stuck on the bench, the Crusaders (8-6, 1-3) had a golden opportunity to knock off the West Catholic Athletic League’s best team.

Riordan held a lead in each of the first three quarters, but the Monarchs (12-1, 4-0) went on a 11-2 run to end the third quarter.

Riordan senior guard Anthony Castillo and Mitty’s Thomas Peters tied for the game’s scoring lead with 13 points apiece. No other player on either team scored in double figures.

Boys Basketball: Stuart Hall 82, Marin Academy 79

The Knights (14-3, 2-0) extended their winning streak to 10 games and are in a first-place tie in the Bay Counties League West with a close win over the Wildcats (9-5, 1-1).

Stuart Hall opened up a 10-point lead after the first quarter, but Marin Academy came back to tie the game at the half and the Wildcats carried a slim lead into the fourth.

Urban Lick great game. Urban down for three quarters. Then played the game. First time Nate Cohen, Matt Monges and Julian Matulich played the game right: Cohen, 19 points; Monges 18 points; Matulich 17 points. After the heartbreaker at MA where a three ponter at the buzzer gave MA the win by 1 point (beating an Urban comeback where Cohen sent Urban up by 2 with 6 seconds left) Urban’s win tonight speaks to a gutsy threesome. These three can play. Remains to be seen if they can win.

Riordan missed their chance. However, I think Gordon would’ve came into the game had Riordan kept the momentum in their favor. Good job Riordan for hanging tough.
