  1. I am extremely cold right now, but here are 2 free picks of the day: SHC +1 and Pinewood +11.5

  2. Wow. SHC looks very tentative in the 1st quarter. Khalil James and Deondre Otis having a terrible 1st half. How come when they play SI, they never miss???

  3. The Serra refs also taking Taylor Johns out of the game by calling a very suspicious foul on what looked like a clean block.

  4. Pratt also tackled at the 50-yard line, yet no foul.

  5. Irish comeback and beat Serra 58-54.

  6. Great Job Irish! SHC 58-54 Serra

  7. Great win at the JUNGLE!! What a game, both teams played hard…! Lets do it again tomorrow. GO IRISH!

  8. Fox and Johns were in beast mode. Fox took care of the offensive end with some nice drives to the hole, while Johns was dominant on the defensive end. Although Johns was pretty quiet offensively in the 2nd half, he made about 3 crucial blocks during crunch time and slammed home a bucket on Serra that changed the makeup of the game. Mr. Otis and Khalil James played a great 3rd quarter after they played a horrible 1st half. Liam O’Reilly has a nice outside shot, and played some good defense too. Great to see 2 SF teams beat Serra in the jungle this year.

  9. WCAL Men’s Final: SHCP vs. Mitty at Foothill College at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.

  10. WAY TO GO SHC!!! Looks like Serra is taking continual lumps from the City schools. lol

SI and SHC are clear-cutting, slashing, and burning the “jungle.”

I cannot wait to see SI-Mitty on the girls side and SHC-Mitty on the boys side of the WCAL finals.

  11. Fox was the best player on the court tonight in my opinion, but I say tonight because Johns has his beast nights. Fox and Johns are D1 players but them playing together and playing team ball doesn’t showcase that. The guards played great in the last 3 quarters with their pressure and tough D, hitting big shots. We have two SF teams in the WCAL final tomorrow! Which may be the best league in California. Let’s Go SI! And SHC!
    Two state titles please?

  12. Serra let that game slip away. Fox was very good but so was Caruso for Serra. His dunk on Johns was very nice! Good luck in the finals SHC and Mitty.

    • Serra lost mainly cause of SHC’s suffocating defense in the last 3 quarters. Alot of people say that Grosey from Serra should be 1st team WCAL, but how many points did he have? 1?

      • Speaking of WCAL all league, what a joke. A team that goes 4-10 gets two players on first team. Something is either flawed with the system or that coach should be fired!

    • If you play basketball for long enough everybody gets dunked on but it was a nice dunk. Johns usually on the other end of those but he didn’t sulk or try to do too much to get him back which ultimately helped him put the game away. Caruso was good, if he was 6’9 he would be an easy POY in california next year even better than Gordon. But you could say that about anyone, even Johns or Fox.

  13. This was a great revenge win from last year. SH was down by 15,16 1st quarter, Johns 2 fouls, Serra’s intense full court press, it did not look good. But this team didn’t give up, Fox said hop on my shoulders everyone, Im not letting us lose tonight.

There were many turning points that lead to SH’s win, but I felt the biggest were the back to back blocks on consecutive possession by Johns on Caruso that led to 2 Irish baskets. That was HUGE!!!

On the flip side, Im not sure why Coach Rapp stopped pressing? Did someone tell him you can’t press if up by 10 points (CYO)??? I realize you realistically can’t do a full court press as intense as they were playing the 1st quarter the whole game but thats why you have 10 other guys on your bench. You don’t have to be a Mr Basketball to play defense, move your feet, sprint and double team a player that picked up his dribble. I thought thats where Serra made a big mistake and this let SH back in the game as they were clearly unable to handle the Serra’s press.

So huge game tomorrow vs Aaron Gordon. Expect another classic last second victory by one of these teams and hope Green White and Blue come out on top for the WCAL title.

    • I think they stopped pressing because they wanted to save some gas in the gas tank for the 4th quarter. i don’t think Serra used their bench as much, so they probably were getting tired. I saw mostly the same 5 or 6 guys on the court for Serra, for the most part.

    • Great points Ari! I was impressed by the huge contingent of vocal SHC fans that made it down to cheer the Irish on. The joint was standing room only and was intense throughout. Serra shots the lights out the first quarter and their full court pressure really rattled SHC in the first quarter. SHC was able to weather the storm and as Ari stated Fox put the team on his back after Johns picked up his second foul on a late whistle and helped chip away at Serra’s digit lead in the second and third quarters. In addition to the John’s blocks, Serra turned the ball over twice in the final minute plus which really hurt their chances.

This was a really well played high school basketball game and Serra must be shaking their heads on how this one got away since they shoot the 3 ball extremely well and Caruso was outstanding until Johns shut him down in the final 3-4 minutes of the game.

Mitty is no joke with Aaron Gordon but the key to the game is limiting the points / contributions of his supporting cast as Peters killed them last game with 15 points. Unlike the GS Warriors it was a great time out!

  14. Great job Mercy. Good luck in the Championship
