Prep Wrapup: Drew girls soccer breaks through in the second half to beat Waldorf

Prep Wrapup is our new feature where we will hopefully provide a broad overview of the previous day’s action. Coaches, to contribute to the Prep Wrapup, please send scores and details the night of the game/event to or call our scores line at (415) 251-0918.

Girls Soccer: Drew 2, Waldorf 0

The Dragons (2-1) controlled pace and possession early in the game, but could not break through until the 68th minute on a goal from freshman Veronica McIntire, assisted by junior captain Avalon Qian. Qian then put the game away in the final moments with a goal of her own.

Baseball: Washington 26, Burton 0

The Eagles (1-4, 1-0) have looked shaky in early non-league play, but got back into their comfort zone against a Academic Athletic Association B Division opponent. Standout senior Washington Dane Vande Guchte, now fully back from playing basketball, went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, four runs and a home run. Sophomore center fielder Jordan Wilson, senior second baseman Javon Phillips and junior infielder Christopher Yee also had multi-hit games, while pitchers Avery Velasco, Nick Tramontozzi, Wilson and Yee combined for a five-inning no-hitter.
