Prep Wrapup: St. Ignatius boys lacrosse dominates Rancho Bernardo

Prep Wrapup is our new feature where we will hopefully provide a broad overview of the previous day’s action. Coaches, to contribute to the Prep Wrapup, please send scores and details the night of the game/event to or call our scores line at (415) 251-0918.

Boys Lacrosse: St. Ignatius 16, Rancho Bernardo 7

The Wildcats (10-0), already considered the best team in California, continue to distance themselves from the best teams in the state. St. Ignatius has already taken down the state’s No. 4 team (according to San Ramon Valley and beat the Broncos (9-2), ranked 13th in the state, handily on Monday.

Sophomore Joe Lang led the Wildcats with six goals, senior JW McGovern scored five and senior Chad Cohan added two.

The Wildcats continue to play stiff competition going forward with a date with No. 15 De La Salle on Thursday and a game with Torrey Pines (No. 2) on a Southern California trip at the end of the month.

Boys Swimming: St. Ignatius 108, Lowell 62

A non-league meet between westside schools ultimately turned into a huge day for St. Ignatius senior Bradley Cline.

Cline set school time records with wins in the 200-yard individual medley (1 minute, 52.42 seconds) and in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.42 seconds).

Boys Golf: Mitty 195, Riordan 208

The Crusaders (1-11, 1-10) dropped their ninth straight match, but got another solid performance from senior Anthony Gutierrez, who shot a match-low 37 at Harding Park. Junior Kevin Cassidy was the only other Riordan player to shoot under 40, with a 38.
