Baseball: Riordan 2, South San Francisco 0
The Crusaders (10-6) got another complete-game from starting pitcher Sean Donovan, his fourth of the season in seven starts. The senior right-hander struck out three, allowed two hits, walked one and threw just 76 pitches. It was his second shutout of the season.
Riordan didn’t have a standout offensive day either, as South San Francisco starting pitcher Joe Marcucci retired the first 14 Crusaders’ batters. Both Riordan runs came in the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI singles from Matt Craig and Chris Davis. Marucci also pitched a complete game for the Warriors (3-11), allowed three hits, struck out four, walked three and both runs were unearned.
Girls Soccer: Lowell 10, Mission 0
The Cardinals (9-0 in Academic Athletic Association play) continued their scorching run through the AAA behind three goals from sophomore Mikela Waldman and two goals from freshman Sofia Trogu. Deedee Pearce, Alejandra Sanchez, Zoe Charter-Kuo, Kayla McCord and Joy Van Hasselt also scored solo goals. The Bears (4-4-1 in AAA) were shutout for the second time in AAA play this season.
Boys Golf: Valley Christian 218, Riordan 227
The Crusaders (1-12, 1-11) continue their slide in West Catholic Athletic League play, but had both low scorers. Senior Anthony Gutierrez and junior Kevin Cassidy both shot a match-low 41 at Harding Park.
