Game of the day – St. Ignatius vs. Torrey Pines boys lacrosse: Midway through the regular season, this matchup appeared to essentially be a state championship game, but lost a little luster when Torrey Pines dropped a game to San Diego rival La Costa Canyon on April 6. It will still likely be the best competition the Wildcats have faced this season, and an overtime loss last year has had SI looking forward to this game since. SI varsity baseball just beat Bellermine with a walk-off double by catcher Charlie Goldensohn with 2 outs bottom of the 7th after DH Travis McDow hit a 2 run homer to tie the game. Bellermine pitcher had a no-hitter going into the 7th. SI wins 3-2.

  2. It took until the third inning for SHC to get a hit. I left when it was 5-0. St. Francis started the third with a triple (where a good throw would have gotten the runner out). A fly ball to left scored the runner. A walk, a fly ball out to right field and a bunt for a base hit got two on with two out. Another walk loaded the bases and a 3-run double brought the runners homem making it 4-0. A single to right brought in another run and a bunt to the pitcher ended the inning. That’s how a team gets five runs instead of no runs.

Saint Francis is the best WCAL baseball team this year.

Did S H C make St. Francis play all 7 innings?

  3. I wonder what Mr. Whinestein will say about the SI lacrosse team losing to Torrey Pines. And SIbaseballfan, it’s Bellarmine.

  4. Yeah, very funny Stats….
