0-7 again in the WCAL for the Crusaders. Out scored 281-55 in league. Let the comments begin!!!

Numbers don’t lie. ARHS Admin please cut him loose now so a new coach can start to rally the boys immediately. Otherwise, I fear we’ll lose even more players either to transfers or apathy. Feel sorry for the Seniors and their parents.

    • Lance says:

Heck. I’m still smarting from the whopping Saint Francis gave. Did anyone tell them this is the WCAL you can’t just show up. Not against a school that until 2006 beat you 35 straight years. Lancers showed how you beat that funky offense. You need the front 7 to knock the stuffing out of the O line. It goes to show you that WCAL toughest league in NORCAL by far.

      • Chris says:

Yea, shocked St. Francis killed Serra. Was everyone asleep on Serra. Good win for lancers and way to end the season

        • Lance says:

All I know Chris is that Serra was out hit and out hustled. Maybe there was a let down from and emotional game against SI the week before, but the fact remains Serra was outplayed and out coached totally!

        • JJ says:

Is it possible Serra didn’t give their best effort, so they wouldn’t have to face Bellarmine in the 2nd round? The way the Open Division is selected and seeded, sometimes it’s better to lose in order to face an inferior opponent. If Oak Grove is really a #1 seed, why does Bellarmine (the 2 seed) face an easier opponent?

          • Lance says:

Clearly they were outplayed and out hit. If they did it to bypass the Bells in the 2nd round it did not work. If they beat Paly( begining to think maybe no after Saturday) they would face the Bells. Palo Alto always gives WCAL teams fits. If I had to bet I would think 2nd round will be Bells vs. Paly. I think SI will be a good match-up vs Palma. Palma has had a lot of CCS success over the years. They barely beat SF at home and lost to Seaside. I think SI can make the 3 hour trip and come out with the win to face probably Oak Grove which will be tough. They always seem to play WCAL tough and have always D1 talent on their team. Anything is possible. Maybe SI vs Bell rematch.

        • JJ says:

Did they do the coin flip behind closed doors? Amazing that Riordan made the CCS playoffs.

  2. Paul B. says:

Does anyone know the reason that today’s SHC girls volleyball game is @ Mercy High & not @ their school?

  3. Chris says:

Come on, riordan frosh has nothing but potential, that’s is all we hear on this blog. Give Sweeney something to work with right? What if riordan gets a new coach and they are still losing? I think Sweeney deserves one more chance especially since according to everyone who writes, riordan has the most talented frosh. You got to give a coach at least 3 years to establish something.

    • Johnny Drama says:

If Riordan’s future is riding on a team that lost 2 league games as freshman….well let’s just say they don’t need to wear shades.

Now hoops may be a different story…how come nobody is talking about the transfer into SHC? Apparently he is quite a ball player.

the Riordan transfers are pretty good and IMO enough to give them the edge above all city schools and may even push them to the top half of league.

  4. TM76 says:

Well if the LA Lakers can fire their coach after a 1-5 start, I think after two seasons of going 0-16 in league gives all the pundits enough ammo to say that Mr. Sweeney should move on to another school. The quote by the Lakes GM was that they were not seeing any improvement and the team was not moving forward to where management believe that they should be at. Was there enough improvement made by the team this year? The 3 non league wins while a improvement in the right direction, overall isn’t enough to satisfy the critics. And is the team where it should be, probably not by a long shot. Hopefully someone can lead the young men at ARHS to the improvement that they all deserve.

    • wcalsf says:

Agreed TM76. The more disturbing issues are the amount of talented athletes who chose not to return to play for Coach Sweeney, the terrible off season conditioning,(what are they using the new weight room for?!?), control of offense, defense and special teams. With all the uncertainty on Phelan Ave., it will be interesting on how everything unfolds…Thank goodness for hoops season!
