The Irish (31-9) battled back from an opening-game loss to beat the Sac-Joaquin Section champions 21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 Tuesday on the road in Roseville.

Senior outside hitter Courtney Wong led the Irish offense with a team-high 14 kills, sophomore middle blockers Madison Murtagh and Kaitlyn Jochum combined for 16 blocks, and senior libero Amanda Lee had 25 digs to hand the Vikings (34-3) just their third loss of the season.

“After we settled down a little bit in the first game, our offense settled into a rhythm, and our defense was outstanding,” said Sacred Heart head coach Margi Beima.
