Game of the Day – Mission vs. Riordan boys basketball: Hopes are high for the Crusaders this season and they’ll get a test early against the defending AAA champions. The Bears’ football players will look to shake off some rust, specifically standout point guard Antoine Porter, after playing in the AAA football championship less than a week ago. If anyone knows who the Balboa girls are playing tonight, let me know. They won yesterday, so they’ll be in the championship bracket, we just don’t know their opponent.

Ok for at least one day can the Riordan commenters say something good about the Crusaders? Granted the win was vs AAA team, Porter is just not enough vs a WCAL team. Geru Mabrey is a stud.

  3. TM76 says:

I thought it was a well played game by the ARHS players: Mabrey, Arenas, Jiday and Gillieran and their subs. Mission needs more than just Porter to step up. They kept getting beat on the back door cuts by the ARHS players and also looked pretty winded trying to get up and down the floor. Fundamentally ARHS was way ahead of Mission. The next game against Burlingame should be more of a test for ARHS.

Wow!!! Both Lowell basketball teams bounce back from their ugly losses in their previous game.

  5. E. K. says:

Crusaders looked good. They’ll be an excellent team when all the transfers can play. Friday’s game with Burlingame should be exciting. Also noticed many more ARHS students at the game than there were at last year’s tournament. The school is excited about this team.

Does anyone know Thursday’s matchups for the Jefferson tournament and the score of the Jefferson-Tennyson game? It was the one game without a city team.

Crusaders were going to be solid this season w/o the transfers – more middle of the pack – but would make some noise in D IV section/norcals. The transfers will boost this team to a solid contender.
Also nice to hear about the Crusader Wrestling squad preseason ranking in CCS as well as having a couple of state-ranked wrestlers in their respective weight classes. Of all the sports at Riordan, it seems wrestling has seen the most success year in and year out. Surprised this hasn’t translated into their performance on the football field…
