Games of the Day – Bay vs. Lowell boys basketball: Both teams advanced to the championship games in their first non-league tournament – Bay in Pescadero and Lowell at Jefferson in Daly City – but neither took home a tourney title. 1. JJ says:

As expected, SHC could be down this year, especially after squeaking out only a 2-point victory in their tournament game vs Pittsburgh. The loss of the twin towers will be sorely missed.

    • Ari Gold says:

Have some CONVICTION!!!! Do you EXPECT them to have a down year or not? How do you expect that they could be?

      • JJ says:

I don’t want to use “expect” because I don’t want SHC to prove me wrong. But all signs point to a .500 record or below in the WCAL.

        • IC Stars says:

They need some time go gel as any other team does. They have talent, and I expect better than a .500 league result.

        • Ari Gold says:

You can expect Mitty to win league, Riordan to be much better, SHC to finish in the top half, SI to battle SF or VC for last place.

          • E. K. says:

SF isn’t bad at all. The other underrated team is Bellarmine. I see them in the top four with Mitty, Riordan and Serra.

        • Golden Boy says:

Of course everyone expects them to be worse. They lost 2 D1 players who were each 6’6. Their biggest player is 6’3 and they have zero D1 players. This doesn’t mean they will not compete but they will definitely not be as good as last year.

        • Ari Gold says:

They will be good because we have Head Coach Darrell Barbour. He gets 100% effort from all his players. His system works because all his players are unselfish and play for each other.

  2. Chris says:

Well, JJ Young O’reilly put up 18 points himself yesterday against Hillsdale…so we will see and they are 2-0, which is better than SI now.

  3. Coach O says:

I was at the game!! And for SHC to play only their 2nd game!! They played good!! Not great but good!! The other team had a 6’7 post and was very athletic!! SH was up by 9 thanl let Pitt back in by taking some bad shots!! But big game James went cost to cost after a time out with 3.5 to win it!! Nice win!! No they will not be the same team as last year as we all no!! But looking at what I seen the last two game!! They will beat some teams that ppl think they might not beat!! As someone said Coach B will have them play hard and together!! And yes they have a nice 8 to 9 players that can all help!!

  4. IC Stars says:

Nice to see the defending CCS champion SHC soccer dudes undefeated. Go Irish!

  5. E. K. says:

Does anyone know tomorrow’s Cardinal Classic matchups?

  6. Big guy 24 says:

Each city team has a very good leader,SHC-Pratt, Riordan-Mabry, SI-Dunbar and when these teams play eachother its gonna be a fight period. All 3 teams playing for bragging rights, who will be the king of the city this year? SHC is the best till proven different and yes I know Fox and Johns are gone but SHC still has talent and will get better week to week. Riordan has talent this year with Ugbaja and Arenas and more players eligable come league time, SI is all Dunbar and he will need his teammates to step up and help him. The Wcal will be competitive as always. Good luck to the 3 teams all year long…

  7. wcal says:

SHC is not better than Riordan. Wishful thinking.

  8. Paul B. says:

On Thurs. 12/6, the Mercy girls soccer team & Everest Public (Redwood City) finished in a scoreless tie.
