Mission vs. Stuart Hall boys basketball: The Bears will look to end their early-season skid on the road against the Knights. Last season, Stuart Hall won the meeting between the two teams 67-66. 1. Sacred Heart Cathedral beat McClymonds and their three 6’6″ players 56-50.

  2. Man. Still no final results from the girls hoops teams of SI, Lowell, Mercy, & Balboa. What’s taking them so long?

    • SHCP beat a Scotts Valley team by double digits. SI also beat a 6 player rotation by Brookside Christian. Coach sat all his stars. Long way to drive to not play….

      • R U talking about coach Mulkerrins of SI sitting all of his stars BBall Fan?

      • They won pretty handily. I don’t think anyone should be worrying too much about the starters not getting minutes in a blowout. You could say the same thing about the SI bench players who will travel down to the South Bay many times this year and not play.

        • It was a blow out because BC didn’t play 4 of his 5 starters, at all. He sat out his entire scoring output except maybe at the 5. Honestly, BC had no shot of winning without playing their best players. SI used their rotation and played everyone.

          • Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about SI.

            • It was a good night of preseason basketball. The city teams won, Eastside beat Berkeley, Lynebrook beat host Presentation and Carondelet beat St Mary’s Berkeley.

          • I met coach Que Ngo of Brookside Christian last year during the playoffs when they played International. If you look they also lost their last game by 16 to albeit a very talented Sac High team. I’m sure he had reason to bench them he’s very tough on his players and expects a lot so I’m sure there is a method to his madness.

          • @BBall Fan do you know to reason behind why the BC coach did not play his starters? I just don’t understand. IT should have been a good game, Tiara Tucker is on of the best players in the area.

            • Please use the name you originally posted under going forward. It is “rickjames.” Further comments under any other name will not be approved.

              • Will do, i apologize forgot my monicker havent’ posted lately!

              • Just hearing stuff from the cheap seats, someone was saying that it was grades, but checking Maxpreps, they just played last week with a full squad. Unless they do weekly report card checks, this doesnt seem to be correct. Someone else was saying that because they play D5, wins against a high ranked, higher division school would increase their chances of being selected to the open division.

  3. Lowell won 66-30

  4. Hey JB,

According to Maxpreps, Lowell’s girls team beat Leland 66-30.

Riordan 66 over Mills 35. —– Riordan 6-0 so far this season.
Almost everyone suited up on the bench — except, of course, the 5 transfers and Masoli (on injury) played. First half a bit close, most players a bit off. But Coach Buck and the two other coaches must have really talked their usual magic in locker room at halftime break – it was a better team playing in 3rd quarter and – that was the story from there on. Geru Mabray as always – – unstoppable once he whips up the tempo – with Bobby Arenas and Jiday Ugbaja. AJ Padrones a great guard when Mabrey got a rest for a few minutes.. Chris Hernandez also a big physical intuitive player and Justin Fernandez comes off bench with explosiveness and speed. There really is a lot of depth in that team and more than has been shown so far – can’t wait until the full team (except injured sophomore 6’8″ Karim) can play in only 2 weeks. But 4th quarter showed how much talent there is in the reserves – and keep an eye on the juniors – – some big players – it was great to see them play like a team too, About half of them will be playing together for 2 years more. Really a great team to watch – fast explosive play and they stretch to get the ball in every play. Great defense on everyone’s part.

    • Crusader D will keep them close in every game. Even though first half was a bit off, the Crusader D held Mills to 14 1st half points. Any update on Karim’s availability this season? He seemed to be walking ok and climbing the bleacher seats with ease. 6-6 Rob Valencia looked good last night with a couple of put backs down low. Gilleran struggled to finish, but was active on both ends. Chiefy will add some length /explosiveness down low.
