Boys Basketball: Urban 62, Oakland Military 44
The Blues (8-1) had seven players score against the Grizzlies (5-6) in the semifinals of the Head-Royce Holiday Classic, but the scoring was far from balanced.
Senior guard Nate Cohen scored more than half of Urban’s points with a game-high 32, to go along with four steals and three rebounds. Urban shooting guards Matt Monges and Harrison Golding added eight points apiece, as did freshman forward Andre Campbell Jr., who also took in six rebounds.
Boys Soccer: Riordan 2, Terra Nova 0
The Crusaders (2-6) waited nearly six years between their last two wins, but behind two goals from senior Francis McGloin, only had to wait about a month for this one. Sophomore Adian Durgerian assisted on both goals.
Boys Basketball: Eastlake (Sammamish, Wash.) 63, Riordan 62
The Crusaders (8-1) suffered their first loss of the season to the Wolves (6-4) from Washington state in the semifinal round of the South San Francisco Tournament despite a game-high 19 points from junior Bobby Arenas. Eastlake’s Brandon Lester scored a team-high 18 points for the Wolves, including the final two free throws of the game with 27 seconds remaining.
Riordan junior Jiday Ugbaja scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and senior point guard Geru Mabrey was the only other Crusaders player to score in double figures with 11, to go along with five assists.
