Pinewood beat International in a hard fought contest 55-51. IHS started strong with a 22-9 first quarter, but had a long drought in the second that let PHS back in the game and eventually to the win. Two very good teams!

    • The score was actually 55-59, Pinewood. It was a great game and it could have gone either way.

  2. I’m going to say when the new top ten polls for girls hoops in sf comes out this coming Monday, SHC will be #1 while SI will fall to #2.

    • Jeremy – looks like you posted the JV score for the Wallenberg / International game. According to the tweet, the varsity score was 43-37.

First win for Wallenberg if I’m not mistaken. I haven’t heard much about International’s MEN’s basketball team, are they in a bit of a down year? Wallenberg has been winless thus far and word has it that Coach Mulligan isn’t expecting a ton of wins this year (even in AAA play)

    • SH should be #1 in both polls but it depends if Jeremy is wearing his SI sweatshirt when filling out the top 10. He may justify even after getting spanked by Mitty that their win riordan makes them #1.

      • Losing to Mitty (arguably the best team in the State) should not be overlooked. Be patient, Tuesday night will be here shortly.

SI girls didn’t match up well with Mitty particularly at guard play. Have not seen SHC womens yet this year so can’t honestly say. Slight edge to Cats.
As for boys, slight edge to Irish based on experience of guards and SI not having a pure perimeter shooter to compliment Dumbar at the point. Again wild card is success of Marcu finding space and staying out of foul trouble.

Final prediction: Ari Gold will make another foot n mouth comment to make him and SHC look bad.

    • If the SHC girls are #1 on Monday, it will be short-lived and their #1 ranking will only last for 24 hours. I don’t think they will be #1, anyways.

  3. Today’s game @ ICA is one of the lowest scoring games that I could remember in a long time.

Urban v Athenian: Great to see Matt Monges’ long ball (20 point effort)….a beautiful shot….and Harry Krinsky’s assists (10 this game). The gaps get filled: Dre Campbell scored (13 points) and rebounded….just missed his second double double (a freshman!) and Harrison Golding (10 points). Nate Cohen played ball handler (though he played sparingly). Everyone contributed: Rowan Williams (6 points), Ian Finneran (3 points), Phong Tran (4 points), Eddie Lieberman, David Immerman and Jonathan Baer (big boy pulling down rebounds, protecting the paint).

Oh yes….and the Refs….Unfortunately gave high school res a bad name…..Skiffer got two technical fouls for…..protecting his players……and Nate Cohen got a technical for “cross talking” (look it up in the rule book??).

  5. Oceana (Pacifica) def. Gateway in non-league girls hoops this past Sat. 63-22.
