Games of the Day: Lincoln vs. Marshall boys basketball: There is a three-way tie for first place early in the AAA season and two of those teams face off today at Marshall. The Phoenix lost both regular-season meetings between the two teams last season, but came back to upset the Mustangs in the AAA semifinals. Lick-Wilmerding vs. Stuart Hall boys basketball: Compared to other local leagues, the BCL West season is relatively short, making each matchup more important, especially because only four teams make the league playoffs. With a loss, Lick will be winless in league play and will face a heavy task to get back into contention, but can get back in the mix with a win. I’m guessing that the Leadership girls hoops team didn’t have enough players in my opinion.

I heard the SHC-Riordan Wrestling matches were postponed today per SHC’s request because of health issues? Hope everyone is OK.

WOW, that Marshall-Lincoln game sounded exciting based on the twitter feeds.

Lincoln will go undefeated in league play.

It was a good game; Marshall has the edge in guard play and Lincoln has the edge in post play. Neither team looked great and Lincoln tried to give the game away with turnovers and silly fouls but they scored an And-1 with 1 second left to win it.

For Marshall, they have a little more depth than last year and a new post player who looks good but got into foul trouble. #12 had a great game and a great steal + FTs at the end to take the lead. #15 Holliday did not shoot the ball well but continues to impress me with his fluid, rangy game.

Lastly, I am a fan of both coaches for trying to be teachers of the game. I noticed some good positive moments from both men in spite of shaky, inconsistent reefing (nothing new there). I think they realized it is a regular season game and they will likely meet again at Kezar.

The washington and mission game was a good rivalry game today. Close game hard fought by both teams. Don’t sleep on Washington, they kept up with Marshall now mission the whole but couldn’t close out.

Does anyone have details on the Convent/Lick girls’ game last night? Little surprised by all those points given lack of offense from the Tigers in the last several games.

    • jscott says:

Lick has been without several key starters the last few games. When
they have their regular staters you will see 60 point games trust me.

      • WCAL Alum says:

I would encourage Lick coaching staff and team to learn to play defense then you wouldnt have to worry about scoring 60 points in a high schol game.

  10. GCJ 01 says:

Good job Pumas! Close game Lady Pumas but you’ll bounce back!

  11. Paul B. says:

Host Bay def. Waldorf this past Tues. 63-45 in BCL Central boys hoops.
