Games of the Day – Galileo vs. Lowell girls basketball: The Cardinals only beat the Lions by seven points in their first meeting and will all but secure first place in the AAA if they can win again today (Editor’s note: I completely overstated the implications of this game, considering Washington is still undefeated in AAA play. -JB). Sacred Heart Cathedral vs. St. Ignatius girls basketball: The Irish have been the surprise of the WCAL season and currently sit tied for first place, while the Wildcats are in fourth. Just like old times. SH girls laying the wood on SI girls. On paper, those will say SI is more talented, but its clear that SH is the better team. The LyRyan doubters are awfully quiet. Where did you all go? Go Irish.

  2. JJ says:

Haha, you wrote this when SHC was up by 13, you probably got nervous when SI was coming back because it would’ve been extremely embarassing if SI came back and won. If only those 3 point attempts went down and SI got those rebounds on missed FT’s. SHC is the better team, hands down, but like they say, it’s tough to beat a team 3 times in a row. Hopefully, these 2 teams play again.

He almost blew the game with his substitutions. The game was closer than it should have been. Good win Irish!

I will say that that SI class of 2015 is not as strong as many on this site have stated.

  4. Ruckjames says:

At the beginning of the basketball season I predicted a split bet SI and SHC , JJ said it won’t
happen but I never expected a sweep by SHC. SI will probalbly avenge their loss in the CCS 2 years
ago when SI swept SHC but lost in the CCS championships!!!But then again it comes down to
who will have better coaching clearly tonight Coach Russell had the upper hand, but almost lost it with
Lousy substitutions and plays. Towards the end SHC played SI ‘s game and almost lost it. Anyway
A win is still a win, congrats to SHC.

    • JJ says:

Before the season started, I thought Josie Little (2nd team all-WCAL as a freshman) would’ve been healthy this year and playing, but it’s pretty obvious that SI misses her presence. If she ever comes back, it will take awhile for her to get adjusted again, but I hope she plays this year.

  5. Sandy says:

Are people still complaining about a coach that beat SI 2x, Mitty and is 1st in league? Wow.

  6. Jason says:

That Class of 2015 was the last of a talented group. Hard work beats talent when talent don’t work. Obviously SH is working hard right now!

    • oswald jefferson says:

I guess we have a difference in opinion of talent. To imply that that class had talent that was better than what left the year before was a stretch. I have not seen players from that class bring to the table what the seniors who graduated, brought last year. The SI faithful overestimated the impact of that class. Raggio and Little will hopefully D-1 talents, but they dont impact the game the way the Maria, and others did. Just my opinion.
