Games of the day – St. Ignatius vs. Serra baseball: The Wildcats are seeking their first WCAL tournament title in school history against the Padres, which have won more league titles than any other school. The Wildcats are the higher seed, but Serra is the WCAL’s hottest team and has won eight straight games in league play. International vs. Bay girls soccer: The Breakers may be the No. 2 seed, but make no mistake, the Jaguars are overwhelming favorites to win their fifth straight BCL Central title. International outscored Bay 10-0 in two regular season games and outscored league opponents 79-2 en route to an undefeated record. The rubber match today is for a spot in the WCAL championship game. Urban vs. Marin Academy girls soccer: The second-seeded Blues beat the Wildcats twice in the regular season by a combined score of 7-0 and will look for a season sweep, which would also punch their ticket to the BCL West championship game. Games of the day – Lowell vs. Washington softball: The two teams will meet in the AAA championship game for the fourth straight year. Either Washington or Lowell has won the last 22 AAA championships. The last AAA softball champion that was not Lowell or Washington was McAteer in 1989. Sacred Heart Cathedral vs. St. Ignatius baseball: Strangely enough, if the Irish had not upset the Wildcats on April 17, St. Ignatius would have the top seed in the WCAL playoffs. Now the rivals will face off again in the first round of the postseason. Games of the day – Balboa vs. Lowell baseball: The Cardinals have finished first or second in the AAA’s A Division in the past two seasons, but have been knocked out of the playoffs before the league championship game each year. Their last playoff loss was to the Bucs last season and Balboa will look to continue the trend. We’ll also try to provide updates on the Marshall-Washington semifinal as much as possible. Games of the day – Galileo vs. Marshall baseball: Since the AAA went to a tiered-division format in 2008, a B Division team has never defeated an A Division team in the playoffs. Marshall was in the same spot last season, as the B Division’s top seed, but fell to Lincoln 9-2 in the first round. Mission vs. Washington girls soccer: The Bears may be the hottest team other than Lowell heading into the playoffs and had to win five straight games to make the playoffs, but the Eagles have a better overall record as the second seed out of the Rueda Division.
