Boys Basketball: SanFranPreps.com All-City Team
By Jeremy Balan
It’s almost scary how similar the statistics are for Sacred Heart Cathedral standout forwards Joshua Fox and Taylor Johns.
Even with largely different offensive games, the two UC Riverside-bound seniors both averaged about the same amount of points (Johns had a slight edge at 14.5 per game compared to Fox’s 14.4) and rebounds (Johns again held a slight edge at 8.1 to Fox’s 7.1), and the two were far-and-away the best players in the City all season.
Girls Basketball: SanFranPreps.com All-City Team
By Jeremy Balan
The competition for the SanFranPreps.com City Player of the Year in girls’ basketball was a two-horse race.
The first contender was St. Ignatius senior guard Maria Kemiji-McDonald, reigning City Athlete of the Year, the best player on the best team in the City all season and the West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year.
The second was Mercy senior guard Mariah Masoli, the West Bay Athletic League MVP, who led all City players with 16.6 points per game and led the Skippers to one of their best seasons in school history.
