Boys Lacrosse: University can’t repeat prior success against MA in NCS quarters

By Dante Quazzo

After a dominating win in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs, University High School looked to advance to the semifinals with a victory over a familiar foe — Bay Counties League West rival Marin Academy.

Saturday Scoreboard

Scores will be updated as they are sent in. Please send in your scores to contact@SanFranPreps.com or call them in to (415) 251-0918. The score phone line is open 24 hours a day.

Game of the day – Stuart Hall vs. Marin Academy baseball: The top-seeded Knights have been the best team in the BCL West all season, but dropped their only league game to Marin Academy on May 10. The Knights spit the regular-season series with the Wildcats, and edged University in the league semifinals, while Marin Academy took down four-time defending champion Lick-Wilmerding in the semifinals. International vs. Waldorf baseball: The Jaguars have also been the premier team in their league all season, but have been in this spot before, and faced disappointment. International is undefeated again heading into the championship game, and will look to redeem itself after a loss to Gateway in last season’s title game. University vs. Marin Academy boys lacrosse: A rematch of the BCL West title game should be another thriller. In their first two meetings, University has gotten the best of Marin Academy 14-13 and 12-11. University vs. San Marin: The top-seeded Red Devils are seeking their first NCS title since 2004 and San Marin, which beat International in the first round, will be their first step.

Boys Lacrosse: University puts away Sonoma Academy early in NCS playoffs

By Dante Quazzo

University High School broke out early against Sonoma Academy and never looked back, en route to a 16-3 win in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs on Tuesday at Kezar Stadium.

Games of the day – St. Ignatius vs. Mt. Madonna boys volleyball: The Wildcats will looks to continue a season of firsts. After winning their first WCAL title this season, the next hurdle is a Central Coast Section championship. Like in the WCAL championship game, they will have to go through the top seed, Mt. Madonna (28-7). University vs. Sonoma Academy boys lacrosse: The Red Devils edged Marin Academy to win another BCL West championship on Friday, but still seek their first North Coast Section title. This is the first year the NCS has expanded to two divisions, so the door could be open for a University run.

Help Keep SanFranPreps.com Alive!

Dear Supporter,

As you know, SanFranPreps.com is the only site of its kind in San Francisco. We provide accurate, important, timely coverage of high school sports in the City. I am so proud of the site’s successes over the last year and a half, as we have had a direct impact on the countless student athletes and 30 athletic programs in San Francisco.

And now it is time for us to grow. We are in the final stages of applying for our 501(c)3 status to become a nonprofit organization, but without an initial seed investment, SanFranPreps.com will not be able to continue coverage into the next school year.

Games of the day – University vs. Marin Academy girls soccer: After being knocked out of the playoffs in the semifinals last year, the Red Devils are the clear favorite to take the BCL West crown this year, and beat Marin Academy 4-0 and 3-0 in the regular season. Galileo vs. Lincoln boys volleyball: Without a doubt the most talented teams in the AAA this season will meet in the championship game. The top-seeded Lions will seek their first title in school history, but have been in this situation before. In 2008, the Lions fell to Lowell in the championship game after a 11-1 regular season.

Games of the day – Washington vs. Balboa baseball: An undefeated league season and the mythical “Triple Crown” are on the table for the Eagles, but Balboa comes in off its strongest game on the season and will look to earn its first title since 1992. International vs. Bay girls soccer: The Jaguars have dominated the BCL Central in the past two seasons, but should not take the Breakers lightly. After losing both regular season games handily last year, Bay gave International everything they could handle the championship game. Lincoln vs. Lowell softball: Lowell and Washington have been well above the rest of the AAA this season, but Lincoln opened up the playoffs with a bang, scoring 32 runs in the first round against Wallenberg.
