Girls Soccer: Bettinger and Boureille will continue rivalry at Stanford and Cal

Senior girls soccer players Celeste Boureille and Kate Bettinger have been playing in one of the Bay Area’s most prominent sports rivalries in their respective high school careers and that’s not going to change when the pair enters college next school year.

Boureille, of Sacred Heart Cathedral, signed a letter of intent to commit to Cal on Wednesday, while Bettinger, of City rival St. Ignatius, signed with Stanford on national signing day.

Girls Soccer: St. Ignatius breaks goal-scoring drought to take down Sacred Heart

The St. Ignatius girls soccer team did something Wednesday against Sacred Heart that they haven’t done for 20 days – put a ball into the net.

The Wildcats broke a four-game scoreless streak with three first-half goals in a 3-0 West Catholic Athletic League win over rival Sacred Heart Cathedral on Wednesday at the Crocker Amazon Soccer Fields.

Boys Soccer: Sacred Heart Cathedral holds off St. Ignatius for WCAL win

After both teams had to wait an extra day to tangle due to the soggy conditions at Kezar Stadium, the Sacred Heart Cathedral boys soccer team outlasted St. Ignatius 2-1 in an exciting West Catholic Athletic League contest at the Crocker Amazon Soccer Fields on Wednesday.

Sacred Heart (9-4-3, 5-3-2) got goals from seniors Jonathon Rojas and Dashiell MacNamara as the Irish held on for the one-goal victory.

Boys Soccer: Slosar makes up for missed PK with game-winner against Bellarmine

Only one word could describe Saturday’s 2-1 victory for St. Ignatius boys soccer captain Shane Slosar: redemption.

After missing a penalty kick in the 67th minute of the West Catholic Athletic League match against visiting Bellarmine, which would have put the Wildcats (9-4-3, 4-2-3) up 2-0 with 13 minutes left, Slosar feared the worst.
