Games of the day – Galileo vs. Marshall baseball: Since the AAA went to a tiered-division format in 2008, a B Division team has never defeated an A Division team in the playoffs. Marshall was in the same spot last season, as the B Division’s top seed, but fell to Lincoln 9-2 in the first round. Mission vs. Washington girls soccer: The Bears may be the hottest team other than Lowell heading into the playoffs and had to win five straight games to make the playoffs, but the Eagles have a better overall record as the second seed out of the Rueda Division. Softball: Lowell moves into first-place tie with Washington with wild win
By Jeremy Balan
As crazy as the events and linescore of the final regular-season meeting between Academic Athletic Association softball powers Lowell and Washington were, only one fact really mattered.
The Cardinals evened the score.
After dropping their first meeting 13-3, Lowell responded with a 11-9 win over Washington on Thursday at Rossi Recreation Center.

Games of the day – Lowell vs. Washington baseball: We’ll see how the weather holds up, but the matchup between the only remaining undefeated AAA squads is on… for now. Games of the day – Riordan vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral baseball: The teams are tied for last place in the WCAL, but both are capable of making a move up the league standings in the final two weeks of the regular season. Galileo vs. Mission girls soccer: The Bears are just a point behind the Lions for the final playoff spot in the AAA’s Heinline Division. With only two games remaining in the regular season, a win here could be the difference between making or missing the postseason. Game of the day – St. Ignatius vs. Torrey Pines boys lacrosse: Midway through the regular season, this matchup appeared to essentially be a state championship game, but lost a little luster when Torrey Pines dropped a game to San Diego rival La Costa Canyon on April 6. It will still likely be the best competition the Wildcats have faced this season, and an overtime loss last year has had SI looking forward to this game since.
