Update: WE DID IT! At 4:35 p.m. on August 15, we went over $60,000 and will officially be around for another exciting school year. Thanks to all those who made this possible. It means so much to me personally, and I can’t wait to get out there to cover another year. If you still would like to donate, we will still accept contributions, which will be carried over to our multi-year goals of keeping the site sustainable.

Update: We’re extending our deadline to August 15, but there will be no further extensions.

Update: Every donation received to help keep SanFranPreps.com alive will be matched up to $30,000 by an anonymous donor here in San Francisco. The donation tracker below is displaying the funds INCLUDING the matching donation.

Dear Supporter,

As you know, SanFranPreps.com is the only site of its kind in San Francisco. We provide accurate, important, timely coverage of high school sports in the City. I am so proud of the site’s successes over the last year and a half, as we have had a direct impact on the countless student athletes and 30 athletic programs in San Francisco.

And now it is time for us to grow. We are in the final stages of applying for our 501(c)3 status to become a nonprofit organization, but without an initial seed investment, SanFranPreps.com will not be able to continue coverage into the next school year.

Today, I am asking families, friends, coaches, students, parents, alumni and schools to make an investment in SanFranPreps.com so that we can continue to provide unique coverage, generate awareness and community connection for student athletes in San Francisco.

At this time, we are embarking on a campaign to raise $60,000 by August 1. The money we raise, which will all be retroactively tax deductible once we receive our nonprofit status, will pay for an editor, writers, web site developments and increased coverage for the 2011-2012 seasons.

For those of you who find value in our coverage and want to support our mission, please contact me directly at jbalan@sanfranpreps.com and 415-251-0918, or make a donation by clicking the PayPal button below.
