Mercy vs. Menlo girls basketball: The Skippers would all but lock up the WBAL Foothill regular-season title with a win over the Knights, who are in a three-way tie for second place. Games of the day – Galileo vs. Washington girls basketball: Both teams are 5-1 in AAA play and if the Lions want to stay within reach of Lowell in the Neff Division, a win over the Eagles is essential. Lick-Wilmerding vs. Urban boys basketball: Many thought the Tigers had a shot at being in first place in the BCL West at this point in the season, but the Blues are a bit of a surprise. The winner of this game will likely remain in a first-place tie with University. St. Ignatius vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral girls basketball: The Wildcats are riding high after their best win of the season over Mitty last week, but it would be unwise to overlook the Irish, which stand in third place in the WCAL standings. By Bonta Hill
Gateway High School came into its Bay Counties League Central showdown against Bay School on a 10-game winning streak, and with a considerable size advantage over the Breakers, the Gators were looking to make a statement.
But Bay had other ideas and forced Gateway into 20 turnovers while shooting 48 percent from the floor to roll to a 67-44 victory on Tuesday at Letterman Gym.

Sacred Heart Cathedral vs. St. Ignatius boys basketball: Again the Irish will be prohibitive favorites, but the memory of last year’s game will be fresh in the memory of all who watched.
