St. Ignatius vs. El Camino boys basketball: The Wildcats dropped a non-league game to the Colts in December, but a win tonight puts them into the section championship game and gives them a spot in the state championship tournament. International vs. San Domenico girls basketball: The Jaguars have already advanced further than any team in school history, but will take on their BCL Central rivals in the semifinals. International dominated the Panthers in the league championship game, but San Domenico proved they could beat the Jaguars with a 50-40 road win in January. But that feeling was quickly dispelled.

After scoring on the first play from scrimmage and holding a 14-7 lead midway through the first quarter, the Lions allowed Berean to score 48 unanswered points en route to a 55-14 rout.

Football Game of the Week: Galileo seeks non-league sweep

By Jeremy Balan

While most teams are taking bye weeks before the Academic Athletic Association and West Catholic Athletic League seasons begin, one school has the opportunity to do something a AAA team hasn’t done in a very long time — go 3-0 in non-league play.

The San Francisco Section’s current incarnation only has available non-league records going back to 2002, and only two teams have entered the AAA season unbeaten since then (Mission at 2-0 and Lowell at 1-0 in 2007).

Galileo could be the first AAA team in recent memory to sweep its three-game non-league slate, but will face its toughest opponent yet in Berean Christian of Walnut Creek on Saturday.
