At times during Friday’s Bay Counties League West game between the International and Convent girls basketball teams, Jaguars players Shayna Mehta and Danielle Palmer were simply unguardable.

Palmer poured in 12 first-quarter points and Mehta followed with 15 points in the second quarter, but International weathered severe offensive stagnation and a fierce Convent comeback in the second half before they finished strongly in a 59-43 home victory.

Girls Basketball: International takes down Urban to stay unbeaten in BCL West

Shayna Mehta, Natalie Kelly, and Danielle Palmer did almost all of the scoring in the International girls basketball team’s 72-61 Bay Counties League West win over Urban on Thursday at Kezar Pavilion.

Mehta scored a game-high 32 points, Kelly added 24 and Palmer had 12, as the Jaguars (14-2, 2-0) never trailed in the game and mostly led by double digits throughout, despite playing only seven girls due to the absence of three players that usually get substantial playing time.
