Girls Basketball: Revitalized Jewish Community takes down rival Kehillah

By John Baker

DALY CITY – To say the Jewish Community girls basketball team was whole on Sunday afternoon would be an overstatement.

Riddled with aches and pains, one key forward played with a broken bone in her foot and another had an injured wrist, but the Wolves were just healthy enough to have their regular starting five on the floor for the first time in almost a month and used the resulting chemistry to beat rival Kehillah of Palo Alto 40-33 at Westlake Community Center.

Momentum can be a powerful force in any sport. Knowing how and when to take advantage of it – and how and when to stop it – can be an art form.

Jewish Community High School of the Bay’s girls volleyball team mastered a pair of momentum shifts on Sunday afternoon en route to a 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 win over rival Kehillah at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.

Boys Basketball: Kehillah’s size proves key in first win over Jewish Community

By Jeremy Balan

DALY CITY – Jewish Community High School of the Bay’s boys basketball team largely locked down Kehillah’s most visible advantage, 6-foot-6 forward Zack Jenkins, on Sunday.

But with the game tied at 38-38 with 25 seconds remaining, Jenkins delivered the knockout punch.

The sophomore used his significant height advantage to bring in an offensive rebound, was fouled on a put-back attempt and knocked down two game-winning free throws to secure the Rams’ 40-38 win in Private School Athletic League play on at Westlake Community Center.
