By Jeremy Balan
With a playoff spot on the table, Lick-Wilmerding High School’s girls basketball team simply got outsized and outhustled against visiting Marin Academy on Thursday.
Marin Academy’s pair of 6-footers, Emily Klein and Charlotte Marx, dominated the Tigers in the paint in a 62-46 Bay Counties League West win.

Boys Basketball: Urban stays in first-place tie with win on the road against Lick
By Bonta Hill
The Urban School boys basketball team has been an afterthought in recent memory, but with the coaching of Joe Skiffer and the play of juniors Nate Cohen and Matt Monges, the Blues are making some noise in the Bay Counties League West.
Led by Cohen’s 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Monges’ game-high 20 points, Urban defeated host Lick-Wilmerding for the second time this season 52-42 in BCL West play on Tuesday.

Games of the day – Galileo vs. Washington girls basketball: Both teams are 5-1 in AAA play and if the Lions want to stay within reach of Lowell in the Neff Division, a win over the Eagles is essential. Lick-Wilmerding vs. Urban boys basketball: Many thought the Tigers had a shot at being in first place in the BCL West at this point in the season, but the Blues are a bit of a surprise. The winner of this game will likely remain in a first-place tie with University. St. Ignatius vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral girls basketball: The Wildcats are riding high after their best win of the season over Mitty last week, but it would be unwise to overlook the Irish, which stand in third place in the WCAL standings.
