Girls Basketball: Lowell ousts Pinewood in Sand Dune semifinal

Scoring 15 points in the first half of a high school basketball game usually isn’t a good thing, but when it’s five points more than the opposition, it feels a bit better.

The Lowell girls basketball team held Pinewood to 10 first-half points and turned on the offense in the third quarter en route to a 44-27 win in the semifinal round of the Sand Dune Classic on Friday at St. Ignatius.

Pinewood’s girls basketball team hit 11 three-pointers and shot 41 percent from the field in a 61-29 rout of Galileo in the first round of the Sand Dune Classic on Thursday at St. Ignatius Prep.

Sophomore guard Gabi Bade led the Panthers’ (7-2) three-point-shooting offense with a 4-of-6 performance from behind the arc en route to a game-high 18 points.
