You likely won’t find Washington High School head baseball coach Rob Fung in a more emotional state than where he was on Saturday, standing in the middle of the infield at AT&T Park.

Despite a largely anticlimactic finish to the Eagles’ 10-0 mercy-rule win over Balboa to clinch their second straight Academic Athletic Association championship, Fung stood on the infield grass watching his team run around the outfield with the championship trophy, silently taking it all in

When the West Catholic Athletic League added boys lacrosse in 2010, it was assumed and stated by many that it wouldn’t be long before athletic powerhouses to the south caught up to St. Ignatius.

With a dominating 16-2 win over visiting Bellarmine in the WCAL championship game on Friday, the Wildcats proved the opposite – they’re distancing themselves from the pack.

Baseball: Balboa takes out Lowell again in AAA semifinals behind Arnold’s shutout

By Jeremy Balan On a scorecard, Balboa High School senior Alex Arnold’s groundout to second base in the second inning of the Academic Athletic Association baseball semifinals looks routine, but it’s the kind of groundout that makes coaches gush. It was also the difference in Balboa’s 1-0 upset win over Lowell on Thursday at Big [...]
