Girls Basketball: St. Francis rolls in Harrigan’s homecoming at Sacred Heart Cathedral
By Jeremy Balan
Brian Harrigan won hundreds of games on the campus of Sacred Heart Cathedral during 18 years as head girls basketball coach for the Irish.
But In his most recent win on Ellis Street, Harrigan was coaching a team in brown and gold.
In his first return to Sacred Heart after leaving the program in 2009, the Lancers controlled the game from the start, opened up a 22-7 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 55-40 West Catholic Athletic League victory.

Games of the day – Galileo vs. Washington girls basketball: Both teams are 5-1 in AAA play and if the Lions want to stay within reach of Lowell in the Neff Division, a win over the Eagles is essential. Lick-Wilmerding vs. Urban boys basketball: Many thought the Tigers had a shot at being in first place in the BCL West at this point in the season, but the Blues are a bit of a surprise. The winner of this game will likely remain in a first-place tie with University. St. Ignatius vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral girls basketball: The Wildcats are riding high after their best win of the season over Mitty last week, but it would be unwise to overlook the Irish, which stand in third place in the WCAL standings.
