Girls Basketball: SanFranPreps.com All-City Team

The competition for the SanFranPreps.com City Player of the Year in girls’ basketball was a two-horse race.
The first contender was St. Ignatius senior guard Maria Kemiji-McDonald, reigning City Athlete of the Year, the best player on the best team in the City all season and the West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year.
The second was Mercy senior guard Mariah Masoli, the West Bay Athletic League MVP, who led all City players with 16.6 points per game and led the Skippers to one of their best seasons in school history.
Baseball: Monsour goes the distance in SI’s shutout win over Sacred Heart Cathedral

PACIFICA — Two years ago, St. Ignatius pitcher Collin Monsour closed out the final leg of the Bruce-Mahoney series with a pressure-packed seventh-inning save as a sophomore.
This year, as the Wildcats’ ace, the senior barely broke a sweat.
Monsour threw a complete-game shutout in a 3-0 St. Ignatius win over rival Sacred Heart Cathedral in West Catholic Athletic League play on Thursday at Fairmont Park.

PACIFICA – The box score from the St. Ignatius baseball team’s 4-3 loss to Palo Alto on Wednesday at Fairmont Park looks strange enough, but it pales in comparison to the events of the seventh inning.
