Boys Basketball: University takes control of BCL West with win over Urban
By Zack Farmer
After a disappointing loss to Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday, the University boys basketball team fell behind early against visiting Urban on Friday, but turned up its defensive pressure in the second and third quarters to rally and pull away in 63-47 a win.
The win broke a first-place tie between the two teams in the Bay Counties League West and put the Red Devils all alone at the top of the league with two games remaining.

“They pretty much dominated us for most of the game,” said Urban head coach Joe Skiffer. “We didn’t have enough fight [or] enough discipline to beat that team tonight.”

Girls Basketball: International takes down Urban to stay unbeaten in BCL West
By Josh Levine
Shayna Mehta, Natalie Kelly, and Danielle Palmer did almost all of the scoring in the International girls basketball team’s 72-61 Bay Counties League West win over Urban on Thursday at Kezar Pavilion.
Mehta scored a game-high 32 points, Kelly added 24 and Palmer had 12, as the Jaguars (14-2, 2-0) never trailed in the game and mostly led by double digits throughout, despite playing only seven girls due to the absence of three players that usually get substantial playing time.
